What more could we ask for on a Wednesday than a DJ feature. Absolutely nothing.

(to start everything off right, enjoy this tune: "He would have laughed"-Deerhunter)

This is  a little something to help you get to the end of the week. We all know how special Wednesday is, or not rather, its just a reminder that it isn't quite the weekend. So we're here to help with that, a peek into the life of Mr. Dustin Johnson, or what we could find on him that hasn't already been circulated... our opinions on his fashion. Lets get real, this won't be the hardest analysis when it comes to critiquing the simplicity of his Adidas wardrobe, but we'll still take a look because he's easy on the eyes. Isn't that why we love him so much? Maybe it's the golf game? Or his insanely fantastic dog (in which we all know he rightfully deserves a swagger hash tag...)

Don't you agree?

So we all know that Dustin hits the ball really far...
I just read that statement and decided that I wouldn't delete it, but point out the fact I sound rather frivolous. you can do the judging... It reads to me like, "ball go far..."

well shit, he hits the ball a long fucking ways (pardon my profanity). He's what? A statuesque 6'4" or so... Need I say more?

fitted clothing. you can never go wrong... well in Dustin Johnson's case.

Enough of the obvious- lets begin the ogling!

What do I fancy more than a sweater? A sweater vest, and while I'm at it, anyone who mixes whites, creams, and neutrals without looking like a McDonalds twist cone is clearly alright in my book. You know what I'm talking about... Neutral combos can be done poorly, but not in Dustin's case (well I'll be honest I'm not diggin the hat, but I can overlook it...) Right, so aside from completely owning the sweater he is styling, he has pants that fit. Pants with clean lines, and no pleats. When you're tall, there is no need to hide that fact you're tall, I believe the more fit with function the better. No I'm not asking for "eurotrash" tight, I'm asking for exactly what I see in this image. clean lines.

I'm really sorry, but I couldn't let this one slide as I was carousing google images of you, Mr. Johnson. Nice ascot. I think I like the pint in your hand a little more... Maybe loose the ascot, turn it into a pocket square, button one more button, find yourself some selvedge denim, keep the beer in hand, and you look set for a night out.

Black and White. You and winning. Trophies suit your wardrobe.

Alright I feel it's time to drop some numbers to prove Dustin's talents... 7 professional wins, a debut at the President's Cup this year, and a win during the Fedex Cup finals at the Barclays... And now as I'm reading his reliable wikipedia page, the second sentence states, "He is one of the longest drivers on the PGA Tour having been third in the driving distance stats for three consecutive years between 2009-2011..." Now I feel like less of a dunce for repeatedly pointing out the fact theres quite a bit of power behind his swing because its proof. Thanks wikipedia.

So what do we like most about you Dustin? I feel like the answer is simple. You're a southern boy who works hard to pursue his dreams. And you've done a credible job this far. Yes, we're giving you praise, but I'm also telling you we expect more, much like I'm sure you expect of yourself. Keep the styles simple, and the fit slim, you're a tall guy, you have nothing to hide... Aside from Max (your beautiful pooch) your best friend should be a tailor.

Maybe my expectations are high, but if by the smallest chance Dustin Johnson reads this, best of luck with the recovery of your surgery.

Boom.
Happy Wednesday all, its almost over!

Jumpstart your morning: Monday Music

I got up this morning, and while making breakfast I plugged in my ipod shuffle to charge it for a run... I decided to look at my music folder and was just curious what my most played song was, it happens to be Phantogram. Same with my second most played song. Mouthful of Diamonds is a song that I would binge on while I waited for the subway daily in NYC. I can't even limit myself to that one song because the whole Eyelid Movies track list is spectacular.

I was actually introduced to Phantogram awhile back when I was living in Minnesota and it came on a beloved radio station 89.3 the current, a public radio station that plays up and coming local and national artists. I had to hunt them down.

Thankfully this morning I looked at my most played, because I completely forgot to tell the world that they released an EP November 1, which is a big deal because it is an awesome follow up to their first musical creation. The new Nightlife-EP is one for the books. Look them up, and enjoy their tunes. There is something so rhythmic it can set your whole day in motion.

"Don't Move" from their Nightlife EP

My top 2 most played on itunes

"Mouthful of Diamonds" from Eyelid Movies

"When I'm Small" from Eyelid Movies

Peter Millar redemption with Ladies S/S 12 line.

Recently I've been busy at work, but I've been fortunate to work with our retailer for our woman's golf apparel. I was opening the shop up today at 4:40am, and it was a bit slow this morning on the course, so I got to talking with a colleague who agrees with my view on fashion, especially that when it comes to mens and womans wear. I can't tell you how excited that made me.

Has anyone caught on to what B and I are looking for in clothes?

Something that Peter Millar's womenswear clothing is working towards. (I know, I know we found the President's cup to be a little simple, BUT it was classic. Personally I was looking for a little more of a tailored look in the pants, and a bit more slim through the side seams of the polos...) I'm not here to reiterate what we've already discussed about the mens line, but to build a positive image they've recreate for their womens. There isn't much of a history when it comes to Millar's womans wear, but there is a new lady who is completely in charge of rebuilding a portion of the brand! WHICH IS GREAT NEWS! There was a ladies line that was struggling for a bit, but reintroduced with Lindsay Browder.

I dont think there are enough letters on my keyboard to convey how excited I was when I saw the lookbook. Because the lookbook  I saw prior Millar's was very graphically inspired by the "orbit" and what have you... And if you havent caught on, graphics are great if done right. Am I right?

I'm right.

There is a noticeably distinct age portrayed through the designs. I have no problem with that. The thing I LOVE the most about the S/S12 line are the sweaters and their incorporation into golf apparel. I feel as though I would still be comfortable pairing a Peter Millar knit polo with one of their sweaters!! Their bottoms selections arent exactly what I, as a golfer am looking for, especially for my age group (which won't disclosed... ). For me, I'm looking for more of a flattering silhouette instead of boxy, and fit with function. Would it kill someone to create J.crew like Minnie pants with pockets?

Below are some of the stylings from the lookbook! Enjoy!

an actual well fitted polo dress.

fun color matching! love the white pants...
not so much the rise and length, but it can always be tailored
(thats probably one of my favorite words.)

everyone loves a sailor-esque boatneck stripe top...
bermudas, personally not a fan because I'm tall, but love the belt.
great styling.

belted cable sweater. classy.
paired with a print on the bottom. a well chosen graphic.

(im sorry this one is cropped and blurry) BUT MY FAVORITE LOOK.
The white and cream pieces with orange accents. fresh.
It's golf appropriate, and easy to wear out. function.
p.s. rickie fowler this is a classic take for an orange sunday...
if you'd like to switch it up and look fly.

simple, with excitement. refreshing for any age.

Thank you Peter Millar, you're fabulous in my book.
and a special thank you to Lindsay Browder.
You're headed in the right direction!
(other companies, step up your game...)
We're all waiting.
We're being proactive.

G&B.
get it.

Black friday or Black Out rather?

Congratulations to those who made it through Thanksgiving. Whether it be the fact you made it through family dinner, didn't have to unbutton your pants half way through your meal, and or didnt gain 10 lbs throughout the day!

For some Thanksgiving is spent a little differently...
And by some, I mean G&B, the glorious creators (of the blog, not Thanksgiving).

(dirty old man anyone?)
(bagger enjoying a little sushi dessert, more sushi...)
(...she's still workin on her chopstick skill.)

The most special thing about not creating a Thanksgiving feast was the fact we didn't have leftovers.

Today I didn't wake up, open my fridge and realize I had to incorporate turkey into my 4 meal a day plan. Yes I, Griggs, eat 4 meals a day with joy. So, I didn't have scrabbled turkey eggs with cranberries on toast, or a leftover turkey sandwich on dinner rolls, or a literal "re-staging" of Thanksgiving dinner for dinner... and we all know how that goes, you take your first bite, it tastes pretty good. Then you reach that third or fourth bite, and you begin mashing your food together to create something new, so maybe your body could get excited about the fact your eating turkey for about the tenth time in less than 24 hours.

(I took the initiative in google searching leftover recipes for those who didn't do it for themselves... you're welcome.)

What does my Thanksgiving gobbling have to do with black friday, everything, yet nothing.

Midnight, really? Stores, you had to open at midnight because people couldn't wait until morning to shop? Blows my mind. I even wish I had some joke for those who religiously cut coupons, but I feel Black Friday "bargain hunters" are a step beyond deranged.

Don't get me wrong, I am one who will NEVER turn down shopping.  I am shopping constantly, or atleast thinking about it... or fashion. Yet, Americas largest shopping day, Black Friday, I have not once been apart of. Maybe because I don't get it? Or maybe because lines don't entice me? Could it be my lack of interest in saving an extra $2 on toilet paper as opposed to the $1 I'd save with a coupon? Probably. What is so significant about shopping at obscene hours? I have enough trouble getting proper customer service during regular hours, so why would I want to be neglected by employees who are working strictly for holiday pay?

Can I answer any of these questions, no. I can not. I am only allowed to judge those who do. Please let me know if there is something special I'm missing about Black Friday because I'm pretty sure the only thing we could've (rather should've) been doing at midnight last night, would be taking part in a little post Thanksgiving festivities...

CHEERS FROM G&B!

(we do hope that everyone did have a special Thanksgiving holiday with their friends and families, and realized how much we miss and appreciate our loved ones! We're also incredibly grateful for all of our followers! We love that you take a minute or 30 to read our handy work...)
HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

you know we love it.

its an extra special day.

My Apologies. Its fashion time.

I just want to begin by saying sorry to the true followers for my lack of fashion dedication this past week... I've began a new venture in my life, well not so new, but continued. It just so happens to be a new job. So thanks for hanging in there and baring with me through my training this week and ignoring my minimal teamwork with bagger (she forgave me at happy hour the other night... how could she not, we went and saw twilight- think about it.)

Second, I have to get this off my chest. I have to. I had the worst nightmare ever the other night. EVER.
I dreamt that Adam Scott was gay?

Bro love.

No love.

ok. moving on, now that I said that! The past is the past, and until proven guilty I know my dream was just a dream well nightmare!

Now onto the good stuff, if my apology and nightmare werent entertaining enough!!!

FASHION. Presidents Cup Recap.

Yep we admitted to our follies, we incorrectly predicted the outcome!

The P-cup fashion is not NEARLY as exciting and adventurous as the Ryder Cup. I must say we found it rather bland on both sides. We've concluded the awards for most fashionable would have to be the Internationals who lost! They certainly lost with flair...

The Americans were outfitted by Peter Millar. Everything from knit polos, pants, and the sweaters all fell under the control of Mr. Millar. Every member of the U.S. Presidents Cup team recieved, "... custom super 130’s wool suits, imported cotton dress shirts and silk neckwear, to merino wool sweaters, superfine wool pants, and double mercerized Egyptian cotton knit shirts..." I would strongly suggest checking out the Peter Millar website if you were a bit discouraged with the Americans colorless, uninspiring, basic, yet classy silhouette. A couple of the pieces that we were most impressed with would be Tuesday's green shirt with yellow placket (which was one of the most exciting spurts of colors we saw all week...) and Thursday's Navy blue shirt with the red placket.
What does everyone love (and if you dont, you're missing out...) LAYERS.
Hello sweater vests. Thankyou Peter Millar for simply making a half zip pullover into a sweater vest half zip with some swag.

Yes it may have been simple like most of the weeks separates, but one thing that the American squad did well was layer, and bring texture to their looks...

but time for some VARIETY!

We just want to give a special shout out to Mr. Geoff Ogilvy for his astounding mustache growth through movember.

Where do we begin? How about where the Americans left off? Layers. sweater vests yet again. Accept the Internationals rock more of a black cardigan vest with yellow accents that mimic the designs in the polo shirts underneath.

Majority of the International polo shirts had designs on them, yeah they werent the most graphically advanced, but hey it added movement and excitement to their appearance!

Normans  company put together the designs for the week, our biggest concern with the designs were that they relied alot on argyle, but really I dont think it's a concern, more of just an observation! An abundance of ARRRRgyle sweaters.

I think we are seeking to find new and inventive ways to recreate the classic style without being to simple and or overdone.

***We do want to reach out to both teams, please note that no matter what shape or size you are, a tailor can be your best friend. And really help you achieve your most flattering silhouettes. We do understand that tighter is not always better, but there is a difference between tight, and fitted (especially when done correctly.)

Lets get creative golf designers.

We challenge you.

Week in Review

We are big enough people to admit when we were wrong and in regard to the final outcome of the President's Cup, we were wrong. The American squad overcame the home-field advantage and lead after every day of play. Here are a few highlights and things we would like to discuss more in depth:

1. Adam Scott: What a gem. Played like a leader all week and we were of course impressed with how well he carried his playing partners, KJ Choi and KT Kim, we also enjoyed when he beat the lovable Phil Mickelson in singles play. The only bad part of his week was when he was paired with Ernie Els who played like a dog during their match which they eventually lost.

2. Tiger Woods: Let's be honest. He has to play more than 2 weeks in a row to be considered "back to form" in our book. He still has a lot of work to do. See you in January.

3. Royal Melbourne: This course looked tough, it played defense all week. Designed by famed Augusta architect Alister Mackenzie, Royal Melbourne really flexed its muscles around the greens. David Feherity tweeted the truth earlier in the week "This course is so hard I think they've been watering it with Cialis. And I just saw Webb Simpson and Billy Haas in separate bathtubs."

4. Cup Rookies: Both sides got incredible play out of their rookies (minus Jason Day ALL WEEK). The Watson-Simpson duo looked unstoppable in during the first few days of play for the Americans. And on the final day in singles matches, Charl Schwartzel and KT Kim won the first two points for the Internationals. This tournament has a bright future when looking at these great young players.

And that should wrap up our thoughts on this past week of play from this exciting event. We will have a review of the President's Cup fashion in a day or two. Be patient, the more fashion-minded half of G&B has a job now, so she is real busy.

Progress update

So while Griggs is off on her 2nd day of work, I thought this was the perfect opportunity to update y'all (thats right, we are in the south now, I am allowed to say it) on her golf game and progression toward the ultimate goal: the LPGA. I have to do this while she isn't here because she is crazy modest, truly "Minnesota Nice" and doesn't want to write about herself. Also, I just needed somewhere else to put pictures up that I take when I am out shagging balls on the course for her.

Her swing looks great and she is really striking the ball well. She has had one lesson with her swing coach, Kevin Smeltz, at Leadbetter since we have been down here and has been in touch with her mental game coach, Dr. Bob Winters as well. In addition to these lessons, she has played out at Championsgate and Stoneybrook West but spends most of her practice sessions at Orange Tree, where she is a member. Orange Tree is a great test with tight fairways and big greens and Dr. Winters says that if you can play well there, you can play well anywhere.

As for tournament play, Griggs is planning on amping up the schedule later this winter with some Suncoast Series events around Florida. We just recently learned that the LPGA has done away with their Monday qualifiers for tournaments, so that just means she is going to have to work that much harder to get to the top. Which she can and will do. Not sure if you know this but, she is a pretty hard worker.

On another note, can we all just take a minute to acknowledge the Adam Scott/KJ Choi royal womping on Tiger Woods/Steve Stricker yesterday? Uh yeah. Didn't expect that at all. JUST KIDDING. Of course we knew it was coming. The Woods/Stricker team couldn't even manage one birdie and didn't win a single hole. I also distinctly remember watching some bonehead on the Golf Channel in the preview show who said Adam was going to crumble under the pressure of playing against Tiger and having to deal with the whole Tiger-Stevie situation in a tournament setting. Well, guess what Mr. Golf Channel Bonehead, you were wrong, congratulations, sir.
